Watson’s Florist Makes A Difference In Lives During COVID-19

Watson’s Florist, 236 West Main St., on Friday, delivered some 182 flower arrangements to local nursing homes as part of a program they started two weeks ago The last two weeks 182 arrangements have been delivered to the local nursing home residents through a donation program. Vivian Whalen, pictured, prepares to deliver some arrangements Friday For the folks at Watson’s Florist, Main St., trying to make a difference in the lives of people has always been a part of this longtime Sullivan business. During the COVID-19 pandemic they’ve reached out to make an even bigger difference. Misty Cason, owner, stated, “I belong to a floral group and we discussed several options of things to do to assist our communities and I thought it would be nice to reach out to the nursing homes in our community since they are not receiving visitors and provide some flowers to help boost moral for patients. The nursing homes were very excited to about this program and felt it would really help their residents.” Cason and staff worked on the program through social media and Cason said at the start she was extremely nervous at the total number of flowers to be delivered was 182 and would the community support the program as donations were the main funding mechanism for the program. “Those who know me personally, know that it is rare for me to be speechless,” said Cason. “However, I have been at a loss for words with this whole experience. We asked..and my goodness did this community deliver! We were able to meet our goal the very next day after announcing the program.
